A tenant of Dunbritton, Mac was first co-opted onto the management committee in June 2007 and elected as a full member later that year.  He served as vice-convenor from 2009; took on the role of convenor (now chair of the board of management) in May 2013.  He brings a wealth of experience particularly in health and safety, having previously served as contract head of a military fire service in a peacekeeping force in Sinai, Egypt, for 14 years and previously in Saudi Arabia. He also served as a fire officer in Scotland.

Mac is also on the boards of Community Links Scotland, and Argyll & Bute care and repair.  He attends the rural & islands housing associations forum. He instigated the revival of the Helensburgh & Lomond Highland Games and was chairman for 11 years.
